  BIOLOGICAL SEWAGE TREATMENT

  OPERATING

The Holland Marine services sewage treatment process is inherent self regulating. There are no adjustments, the unit will handle any shipboard sewage.
No pretreatment, maceration or screening is required. Application of fixed media permits formation of much larger biomass volume than would otherwise be possible in conventional biological systems. The media itself is virtually non biodegradable.

  OPERATING PRINCIPLE

The waste water enters the system via the inlet (1). The blower (2) provides air and circulation of the waste water over the submerged biofilter (4) by means of the simple and reliable mammoth-pump principle (3). The micro-organisms that grow on the surface of the media are biologically breaking down the organic matter in the waste water. The treated water flows over through the spillover connection (6) to the disinfection tank (7). The disinfection pump (8) is metering the liquid disifectant accurately, to eliminate the remaining bacteria. High treatment coefficents and good quality effluent is produced, suitable for safe discharge overboard. The discharge pump (9) and level in the disinfection tank. The low amount of sludge formed is collected at the bottom (11) and can be flushed out with air (12) and pumped out by the discharge pump (9).
