Grease, fats and oil in galley drains, grease traps,
pulpers and pump sumps cause a number of major problems. The problems arising from grease
in drainage systems include:
| - |
Blocked drains |
| - |
Bad smells |
| - |
Slow draining sinks |
| - |
Regular grease trap pumping |
| - |
Flooding |
|
These grease related problems result in considerable expense on emergency
maintenance and inconvenience in galley operation, Traditional methods include the
use of specialist contractors for rodding and suction or hazardous chemicals to
dissolve the grease and move it further down the drain where it becomes part of the gray water system.
The Grease Clean harnesses the power of environmental
biotechnology to solve the problems caused by grease in
drainage systems in a completely safe and natural way.
The Grease Clean contains a blend of harmless, natural
micro-organisms which have the ability to degrade grease.
This degradation process ensures that grease is destroyed
and can't reform further down the drain.

The benefits of treatment of drainage systems with The
Grease Clean are: |
|
| - |
Free flowing drains |
| - |
Eliminates bad odours |
| - |
Reduces frequency of grease trap emptying |
| - |
Increases hygiene by eliminating flies |
| - |
Reduced drain maintenance |
| - |
Safe for people and the environment |
| - |
Planned maintenance costs. |

What is the Grease Clean? The Grease Clean is a liquid product which contains
a blend of micro-organisms which have been specially selected
for their ability to efficiently degrade grease. They
also are efficient in degrading other food waste materials.
These bacteria produce a range of enzymes which degrade
grease, starch, protein and plant fibres (cellulose).
The formulation also contains a small quantity of free
enzymes which initiate the process of degradation until
the bacteria begin to produce their own. The key to the
breakdown of grease and other compounds, which are not
water-soluble, is the production of biological surfactants
or biosurfactants. Biosurfactants help to emulsify the
grease so that it can be degraded more efficiently. The
bacteria in The Grease Clean have been selected for their
ability to produce biosurfactants, One further addition
to the Grease Clean is the inclusion of a small Quantity
of biodegradable surfactants. These help to stimulate
the initial degradation process until the bacteria produce
sufficient biosurfactants to continue this natural phenomenon. |
Direction for use The Grease Clean is a liquid product which is specially
formulated so that it can be dosed automatically. The
ideal time for dosing is 1.5-2 hours after galley closedown
so that the bacteria have an opportunity to degrade grease
under more favourable conditions. During the hours of
galley operation conditions in the drains and grease trap
are hostile to biological action due to high temperatures,
sanitisers, high pH, detergents, etc. Therefore it is
essential that the biological population be maintained
by daily dosing of The Grease Clean.
The Grease Clean is supplied as a concentrated product
which needs to be diluted by adding 1 litre to 24 litres
of clean water to produce the ready to use product. Dosing
is based on the number of meals served on a daily basis. |
